Will of Anne Waldo Atkins (Class of 1919)

The John Fielding Higgs Memorial Scholarship was established in January of 1963. This scholarship was created through a bequest in the will of Anne Waldo Atkins (Class of 1919). John Fielding Higgs, a graduate of Stephenville High School and Tarleton College, died in 1947. He was a student at the University of Texas when he enlisted in the Air Force. He became a bomber pilot and was killed on a mission over Germany. His father, Mr. Rufus Fielding Higgs, was the creator and owner of the Stephenville Empire-Tribune.
