Tarleton Chemical Society

Tarleton’s student Chemical Society raised and donated the money to establish an endowed scholarship in honor of Howard Nance, former faculty member and longtime society advisor. Mr. Nance sponsored the Chemistry Club for more than 30 years. The scholarship will be awarded to a College of Science and Technology (now the College of Science and Mathematics) student who is an active member of the Chemical Society.

The George Wiedebush Scholarship was also established by the Tarleton Chemistry Society in 1987. Mr. Wiedebusch was the Chemistry Lab Manager and Storekeeper at Tarleton from 1958 to 1988. The scholarship is awarded to an area high school
student with plans to major in Chemistry.
