Robert Scott
The Dr. Verne A. & Pearl Kern Scott Scholarship was established in 1989 by Robert Scott of Grand Lake, CO, formerly of Stephenville, in honor of his grandparents. Verne Scott, D.V.M., Sr., was part of the Tarleton faculty from 1920 to 1947 as a professor
of veterinary science and animal husbandry at what was then John Tarleton Agricultural College. After working his way through Texas A&M University, he later attended Kansas City Veterinary College before joining the Tarleton College faculty. Orphaned at age 13, financial need was prevalent during his early life. Both Verne and Pearl were very active with campus life. Pearl served as president of the Tarleton Campus Club in the 1930s. As a faculty member, Verne worked tirelessly to help students. Verne was a practicing veterinarian in the Stephenville area until his death in 1963. Both were admired greatly within the Tarleton community.
