Nancy and Ted Paup and Tom Weger
The John Tarleton Ranching Heritage Endowed Scholarship was established in May of 2019. This scholarship is awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student researching any aspect of ranching in Texas. Preference will be given to a history major. This scholarship was created by Nancy and Ted Paup and Tom Weger to commemorate the importance of ranching to Tarleton State University, founder John Tarleton, and the history of Texas. John Tarleton owned ranch land and cattle in Erath and Palo Pinto counties as early as the 1880s and Tarleton State University has a strong tradition in the studies of ranch and range management, animal sciences, and in the research and instruction of the intricacies of Texas history.
