Mrs. Helen McCullough
The LTC Jack D. McCullough Scholarship was established in 1979 by Mrs. Helen McCullough in memory of her husband. Col. McCullough, a native ofTacoma, Washington, lived in Stephenville for 40 years. He entered the Army in 1924 at Fort Lewis, Washington and came to the Tarleton ROTC staff in 1937 as a sergeant from Fort Sam Houston. In 1941, he was commissioned at Fort Benning, Georgia and returned to Tarleton as PMS&T. While at Tarleton, he was promoted to captain and later served in Japan during the occupation forces. In 1953, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student who plans to enroll and complete ROTC at Tarleton.
