Mr. Paul Cunyus and Family

The Paul and Opal Cunyus Memorial Scholarship was established in December 1995. The scholarship was established to benefit a deserving Tarleton student in the field of fine arts, education, elementary education or horticulture. Mr. Cunyus came to Tarleton in the early 1920s from his home in East Texas. He completed two years at John Tarleton Agriculture College majoring in Agriculture. Upon graduation he transferred to Texas A&M University, where he receive his bachlor and master degrees. After World War II he returned to Tarleton as the associate dean and served in that capacity for 25 years. He retired in the early 1970s. Mr. Cunyus passed away in 1996. His wife, Opal, preceded him in death.
