Mr. & Mrs. Carl Crimmins

The Rennie and Hugley Nursing Scholarship was created by Mr. & Mrs. Carl Crimmins of Stephenville, in honor of Mrs. Crimmins’ mother, Alma Muller Rennie, and Mr. Crimmins’ aunt, Birdie Barton Hugley. A native of Texas, Mrs. Rennie went to work as a nurse in the pediatric ward of John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. She received her Vocational Nurses License in 1948 and spent the next two decades in devoted service to her patients. She retired from nursing but continued to work in community service until her death in 1958. Ms. Birdie Hugley, a native of Missouri, served as an RN at the St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with the Armed Services in France during World War I, and as a private nurse in Fort Worth. She died in 1958.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Crimmins also established the Springfield Family Scholarship in Criminal Justice in 1993 to honor the Springfield family. It is awarded to an outstanding Criminal Justice major.
