Mr. and Mrs. Ben Baty

The Ben and Nellie Baty Endowed Scholarship was established in 2009. This scholarship is used to benefit students majoring in marketing or business management at Tarleton State University. The recipient of the scholarship must have a 3.0 grade-point average, demonstrate strong academic performance, and exhibit leadership qualities such as participating in student activities or part-time employment to financially supplement their education. Priority will be given to U.S. Army ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) students. This scholarship was endowed through the Tarleton State University Foundation, Inc.

Mr. Baty attended Tarleton from 1948-50 and is a graduate of Texas A&M University: a distinguished military graduate with a degree in marketing. After a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, he joined Shell Oil Company. Following a distinguished 38 year career with Shell, Mr. Baty was appointed executive vice president of Hanna-Sherman International Inc., Portland, Oregon. Mr. Baty is a Distinguished Alumnus and served as President of the Tarleton State University Foundation and the Tarleton State University
Alumni Association.
