Friends and Family of Mr. Herb Teat

The Herb Teat Scholarship was established as a tribute to Mr. Herb Teat, who served as choral director at Tarleton from 1969 to 1982. Mr. Teat organized the Tarleton Troubadours, and the group performed with the USO in the Caribbean and in Europe. Mr. Teat created the Cross Timbers Civic Chorale and directed the group’s first holiday production of Handel’s “Messiah”. The Tarleton Alumni Association honored Mr. Teat as Distinguished Faculty in 1990. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in choral music education.
