Friends and Family of Mary Anne Foreman

The Mary Anne foreman Scholarship was established by the friends and family of Mary Anne in her memory. A graduate of Stephenville High School, Mary Anne Foreman attended Tarleton before earning her bachelor’s in journalism from Southwest Texas State and her master’s, also in journalism, from the University of North Texas. She served as the sports editor for the Stephenville Empire-Tribune before going to work at Tarleton in the university news department in 1983. As a communications specialist,
Foreman was responsible for keeping Tarleton’s name before the public, writing press releases about different events and goings-on at the university. In 1999, Foreman was honored for her many hours of writing and photography by being named as Tarleton’s Employee of the Month for March. After serving Tarleton for more than 23 years, Foreman passed away in 2006. The recipient shall be a full-time student majoring in Communications with Journalism as a support area and have demonstrated an interest in photography and/or sports writing.
