Former Students of Mrs. June Shannon

The June Arthur Shannon Scholarship was established in 1995 by the former students of Mrs. June Shannon. Mrs. Shannon served as a high school English teacher for many years at Stephenville High School. She earned her AA degree from Tarleton in
1931, her BS degree at Daniel Baker College in 1936, and her MS degree from Abilene Christian College in 1959. She taught high school English in Brown County before moving to Stephenville to teach English for eighteen years. Mrs. Shannon authored several books and loved writing poetry. She was selected as the 1982 Distinguished Alumni by the Tarleton Alumni Association. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving student from Erath, San Saba, Brown, Coleman, or Callahan county. Mrs. Shannon passed away in 2005.
