Estate of Roscoe Maker
The Roscoe and Halcie Maker Endowed Scholarship was established in 2004. This scholarship was designed to assist students from Bosque County or Hico High School. A well-known resident of the Cross Timbers region, Mr. Maker established a flying school in the 1930s in Clinton, Oklahoma and eventually became a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps. Later, he started a flying school in Abilene and developed other business interests, including a ranch in Bosque and Hamilton counties and a hobby store in Abilene. Mr. Maker left his estate to Tarleton in a bequest. Mr. Maker passed away in 2012.
