Dr. Ruby Nell Ruth

The Deanna Supercinski & Janna Walker Endowed Scholarship was established in June 1992 by Dr. Ruth in memory of these students. DeAnna Kay Supercinski entered Tarleton in the Fall of 1987, majoring in home economics. She was active in Rho Iota Delta and served as treasurer for the Texas Home Economics Student Section. She was described as being strong and independent, as well as being quiet and sophisticated. A drunk driver struck DeAnna on Thanksgiving eve in 1989. Janna Lee Walker began attending Tarleton in the Fall of 1985. She served as president of several campus organizations, including Collegiate 4-H and Vocational Home Economics Teacher Association of Texas. She also held an officer position in the Texas Home Economics Student Section for two years. Janna was described as being someone of great love and compassion for her family and friends, and she worked hard to achieve the goals she had made for herself

Dr. Ruth also established The Ruby Nell Ruth Endowed Scholarship in 1988. Dr. Ruby Nell Ruth was the Department Head for Human Sciences from 1983 until her retirement in 1992. This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Nursing major.
