Dr. Edwin D. and Welba C. Dorsey

The Edwin D. & Welba C. Dorsey Academic Scholarship was established in 1997 by Dr. and Mrs. Edwin D. Dorsey of Belton, The Edwin D. and Welba C. Dorsey Academic Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (S.T.E.M.). The student must be of junior, senior, or graduate level classification, must be a United States Citizen, and demonstrate financial need. The student must also maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and this scholarship may be renewed for up to three years.

Both Dr. Edwin D. and Mrs. Welba C. Dorsey were Tarleton alumni. Dr. Dorsey was honored during the 1997 Alumni Academic Forum. In 1964, Dr. Dorsey was one of the first students to receive a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. He retired as Vice President of Research and Development Analytical Chemistry at Alcon Laboratories in Fort Worth.
