Col. (Retired) Willie L. Tate

The Willie L. & Eve K. Tate Scholarship was established in 1998 by a generous gift from Col. (Ret.) Willie L. Tate, a 1935 graduate of John Tarleton Agricultural College. Honored as Tarleton’s 1988 Distinguished Alumnus he served on the Tarleton
Alumni Association Board of Directors, and as President of the Tarleton State University Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors. Col. Tate was the recipient of the Honorary Doctor of Letters degree in December 2002. The scholarship is awarded to students within the College of Education and Fine Arts and the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences. Col. Will Tate passed away in 2012 at the age of 96.
