The Daniel Parker Herd Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1999. Daniel was born on February 3, 1976, the third child and second son of Tevis and Patty Herd. He was full of life and brought joy and laughter to his family and friends. He participated in High School Rodeo and graduated from Midland High School in 1995. He was a team roper and attended Tarleton beginning in September 1995, where he was on the Rodeo Team. Daniel died October 30, 1999. Two of his friends from Tarleton told his parents that Daniel was the most kind and generous person that they had ever known and that he brought out the best in others. Daniel’s favorite scripture is Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Daniel lived his life that way. May all who enjoy the benefit of his scholarship fund remember him and do the same.
